Michael enjoys working with individuals, groups, and families to help build better relationships and work through issues of conflict and trust. Michael's philosophy of therapy is based on the belief that being disconnected from healthy, supportive relationships is the cause of almost all human problems. Michael encourages his clients to take charge of their lives by learning to understand their anger, forgive themselves and others, and make better choices.

Michael's broad background includes work in community-based, Day Treatment and Residential settings, as well as in private practice.  Michael has served as a clinical supervisor and is trained and certified in Multi-Systemic Therapy and Therapeutic Crisis Intervention.

Michael specializes in issues relating to anger, depression, forgiveness and reconciliation and has received focused and specialized training in these areas. He works with all populations, but has particular interest in adolescents, couples, and families. He completed two years of post-graduate training in Family Therapy through the Denver Family Institute, and has facilitated a number of parenting seminars and classes.

Michael has provided therapeutic training for educational staff in area public schools, for the Department of Human Services, and for a number of community mental health agencies. Topics presented include: "Violent and Aggressive Adolescents," "The Grief and Loss Process," "Nonviolent Communication," and "Working with Angry and Oppositional Students."  

In addition, Michael volunteered his time as a member of the Aurora Mental Health's speaker's bureau to raise community awareness and educate the public on mental health issues.    

Michael is a Licensed Professional Counselor and has a Master’s Degree in Counseling from Denver Seminary and a Bachelor’s Degree from Georgetown University. Michael also serves as an Adjunct Professor at Denver Seminary. He has been happily married for eight years and has two children. Besides spending time with his family, Michael enjoys running, playing the guitar and missions work to India.
